A Winter's Tail

Saturday January 24

Morning Session: 10:30am

Afternoon Session: 12pm

Join the Fair Hill Nature Center educators for a cozy winter adventure! Kids will bring the story “A Winter’s Tail” to life by performing a fun, interactive play. After the show, create a winter-themed nature craft and discover how animals stay warm, find food, and survive during the cold months.

$5.00 / child for non-members

Free for members and adults

Valentine's Day Guided Hike

Saturday, February 14

1-2pm

Join us for a Valentine's Day hike through Fair Hill! This relaxed scenic hike is perfect for couples, families, friends, or anyone who loves the outdoors. Dress for the weather!

Meet in front of the Nature Center at 1pm.  Hike is approximately one hour. Great for families but not stroller friendly. 

Members are free but need to register. Non-members are $7.00

Feather Face Off: Chicken vs. Duck

Saturday, February 21

11am -12pm

Students will learn all about the similarities and differences between ducks and chickens and who reigns supreme! They will rotate through engaging hands-on stations, learning about animal structures, biomimicry, adaptations, anatomy and domestic vs. wild animals.

Designed for ages 4-10.

Members are free but need to register. Non-members are $5.00. All adults are free and do not need to register. 

March Guided Hike

Saturday, March 21

1pm-2pm

Celebrate the return of spring on a guided hike honoring the Vernal Equinox—the moment when day and night are nearly equal and the natural world begins to wake up. As we explore the trails together, we’ll look for early signs of the season like budding trees, returning birds, emerging wildflowers, and fresh animal tracks. 

Members are free but need to register. Non-members are $7.00

Trout Takeover

Saturday, March 28

12pm - 3pm

Join us for a fun, hands-on family day at the Nature Center celebrating all things trout. Families can explore activity stations set up around the grounds, try casting a line, make their own fishing fly, enjoy fish-themed crafts, and learn about the trout life cycle from egg to adult. 

Drop in anytime between 12-3pm.

Free for Members. $5.00/person for Non-Members. Kids 2 and under are free and do not need to register.

April Guided Hike

Saturday, April 18

1pm - 2pm

Enjoy a one hour guided hike on the Stove Pipe Hollow trail featuring Virginia blue bells, may apples, trout lilies, wild ginger, blood root, and more spring ephemeral which only last a few weeks!

Free for Members, but need to register. $7.00/person for Non-Members.

Frog Frenzy

Friday, April 24

5pm - 8pm

Bring your family and friends for a fun educational night at the Nature Center! Interactive stations will be set up around the property focusing on all things FROGS! Dip nets, crafts, live animals, face painting, live music, food truck, hikes to toad town, and more! This event is completely FREE for members, but they must register.  $10/person for non-members, kids under 2 are free and do not need to register.  This event is rain or shine.
