Outreach Program Expands to include all County Schools

It was a busy winter for the Fair Hill Nature Center educators. Our unique kindergarten outreach program, "A Winter's Tale," traveled to all seventeen elementary schools in Cecil County. For the first time this program was available at no cost to every Cecil County public school class thanks to a grant from the Cecil County Arts Council and funds from the Board of Cecil County Commissioners. In all, 52 classes participated in the program, including classes at Caravel Academy and Elkton Christian School. Three hundred and fifty students "starred" in a theatre production and 1000 students were introduced to the Nature Center and its teachers.

In February, our educators attended the Maryland Outdoor Educators Conference held in Ocean City, Maryland. Sessions were held on a variety of topics ranging from tick control to children's literature and environmental education.

We are looking forward to a busy spring and summer season. Look for the summer camp offerings in the insert enclosed with this issue.
