BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MONTHLY MEETING: September 7, 2000
MINUTES
Members Present: Angie Barnett, Suzan Doordan, Bill Lucas, Jerry Newman, Larry Klevins, Robert Carroll, Dan Schneckenburger, Nancy Simpers, Jerry Hendricks, Barbara Snyder, Jim Campbell, Dennis Clower Guest: Ralph Young
Financial Report: Financial Report was accepted as presented. In August 2000, expenses were less than income by $1977, including a grant received from the Waterfowl Trust in the amount of $2500. Suzann Doordan reminded members that United Way does not permit fundraising solicitation during the fall months but the corporate solicitation letters can proceed as planned. A revised 2000 budget will be submitted to the October meeting for approval. Each fund raising team is encouraged to review their budget goals and to submitted any revisions based upon what can realistically be raised.
Fox Trot Ball: The Ball is set for October 21; catering will be done by Woody's at a cost of between $15 - $18 per person; music will be provided by Jerry and the Juveniles; invitations are ready to go to print. After much discussion, it was agreed to move forward and sponsor the Fox Trot Ball.
Staffing for the Nature Center:
Resignation has been received from the Educational Director, Holly Hannum as well as the Executive Director, Carol Riggs. The Personnel Committee is submitting to the Board their recommendation to accept both resignations and to pursue review of current staffing model, job descriptions and anticipated budgetary allowances for staff positions. Personnel committee anticipates having job descriptions revised and ready for review by the October Board meeting.
Motion #1. Motion was made by Bob Carroll, seconded by Nancy Simpers and unanimously approved to accept the resignation of the Executive Director. Motion #2. Motion was made by Angie Barnett, seconded by Nancy Simpers and passed to accept the resignation of the Education Director. Motion #3. Motion was made by Suzann Doordan, seconded by Nancy Simpers and unanimously passed to ask Holly Hannum to temporarily serve as the Interim Education Director through December 31, 2000. It was agreed that the Personnel Committee will continue to work on the job descriptions and organization chart to have completed by the end of the year.
The Board is reminded of their responsibility to adhere to rules of confidentiality, in particular as it relates to personnel matters.
