Fair Hill En Plein Air

Saturday October 4, 5:00 - 9:00 pm

Fair Hill Nature Center is having quite an exciting fundraiser! With the help of Carole Huber, local artist, and the Oxford Arts Alliance, under the direction of Richard Beard, we are very excited to announce Fair Hill En Plein Air! You might be asking: What is en plein air? En plein air is painting out of doors. An artist painting outdoors can capture the natural light and an array of colors and shadows that cannot be duplicated indoors. The plein air movement is well known on the West Coast. In California artists have been coming together for over twenty years to support ecological causes or historical landmarks through the sales of their artworks painted on the spot, out-of-doors. Carole Huber thought Fair Hill would be an excellent choice for this type of event. Fair Hill offers; natural beauty, wildlife, ruins, bridges, and of course there is William DuPont’s old hunting lodge which is now known as the Fair Hill Nature Center. Twenty well-known, local artists will be venturing out across the 5,000 plus acres of the Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area. They will spend eight days producing five or more paintings using mediums such as oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic and pencil. These paintings will be auctioned at the Oxford Arts Alliance located in the Simon Building at 38 South Third Street in Oxford, PA. Visit their website at www.OxfordArt.org A percentage of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Fair Hill Nature Center. We are very excited about this event! Please join us on Saturday, October 4 between 5pm and 9pm for the opening night and auction. Art work will be on display for viewing or purchase until October 12, 2008. You may find a painting you won’t want to leave without!
