Nature Center programs are great for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, families and organizations such as Scout groups. Family memberships and organization memberships are available for $30. Scout groups and other youth organizations over 12 members are $50.

September 16, 2006 Fall Trail DaysTrail Day

We will be cleaning the trails to make them more passable for the children that will be returning in the Spring. Anyone interested in helping please reply, either by phone or email. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end around 1:00 p.m. A lunch of hot dogs and delicioous baked goods will be served at 12:00. Please bring any rakes, gloves wheelbarrows that you may need. Be sure to label everything you own. This is a great oportunity for youth groups to earn service hours.

 

 

 

leafOctober 14, 2006 – Leaf Walk & Craft 

10:00 – 11:30 am

Members Free/Non-members $3.00 acorn

 

Hike with our Nature Center teachers along our nature trails to identify native trees in their fall glory.  Finish up with leaf printing, either on a T-shirt or sweatshirt you bring or on our art paper or bandanas!  Pre-registration required.

 

October 14, 2006 – Please Don’t Eat the Worms!

12:00 – 1:30 pm

Learn about the fascinating ecology of soil through the life of the humble earthworm.  Find out how these creatures help our forest, farms, and gardens.  Finish with a treat of “dirt and worms!”  Pre-registration required.

Habitat Hunt for ages 5-7: Students will become an animal that lives in one of the many habitats at Fair Hill. THrough sensory activities and role playing during the hike, students will learn about the interactions of plants and animals in the meadow, stream, and woods.

Forestree for ages 8-12: Trees! Students will learn all about our marvelous trees. We will learn how they function and why they are so important to our environment. We will also learn how to identify some of the more common trees in our area.

DanceLast year’s big success and  big fundraiser for the Nature Center! Come join the fun with a night of “gambling”, dancing, hearty hors d’oeuvres, and fabulous prizes.  Music provided by Sling-Shot, great food provided by local restaurants and prizes all courtesy of local businesses.  Come out and show your support for a great cause and have fun doing it! Meet at Wesley’s Restaurant parking lot on Rt. 273. We have “adopted” a stretch of the highway and pick up trash about a mile east and west of Wesley’s. We’re only out there a couple of hours but what a difference it makes. And you’ll meet the nicest people!. All materials provided by the Nature Center. Must be 12 years or older. Service Learning Credits available.
