Nature Center programs are great for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, families and organizations such as Scout groups. Family memberships and organization memberships are available for $30. Scout groups and other youth organizations over 12 members are $50.

Trail Day

Sunday, September 11, 1:00 to 4:00 pm
 


A group of previous volunteers.

We will be grooming our trails for fall classes, building new benches at our water site and weeding our butterfly, herb, and native plant gardens. We would love to see you there. Feel free to bring your own yard tools or gloves, but be sure to put your name on them first! We also need volunteers to provide baked goods, either the day of the event or before. We can provide service learning forms for students. Hot dogs and other goodies served at 4:00. Call 410-398-4909 for more information. This event is always fun and we really need your help. Thank you!

Elkton Alliance Fall Fest

Saturday, September 17, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
 

Held in downtown Elkton, Fall Fest features face painting, games, crafts, pretty baby contests, vendors, and music. Fair Hill Nature Center will present their special children’s nature games and crafts from 9-3.

Girl Scout Discovery Day

Saturday, October 8 , 8:45 am to 2:30 pm

Outdoor CookWildlife Earth Connections

Junior girl scouts will partially complete two activity badges. Scouts may choose two badges from Outdoor Cook, Wildlife, or Earth Connections. Peregistration is required. Scouts can come alone or with their troop. Bring a lunch. Fee for the day - $10.00/scout or $12.00 if including Outdoor Cook.



Astronomy in the Park

Friday, October 14, 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Join amateur astronomer James T. Morgan at the Appleton Road North Parking lot at Fair Hill for an evening of “hands on” astronomy using telescopes and binoculars. Bring your own equipment or use ours/ Bring something to sit on. For information and directions email morganjt56@yahoo.com  or call the Fair Hill Nature Center at 410-398-4909. (rain date October 15) Parking - $3.00 per car/MD residents, $4.00/car out of state.

Fall Foliage Walk and Leaf Printing on Clay

Introducing our new Fair Hill Tree Guide! Stroll through the beautiful trails at Fair Hill, admiring the autumn colors and learning to identify Fair Hill’s trees. Choose your favorite leaf to create a lovely leaf print on clay. Reservations required. Members $2.00 – Nonmembers $5.00.

Home School Day 

Wednesday, October 19, 12:30 pm - 2:30pm

Home schoolers ages 3-4 will explore “creepy crawlers” at Fair Hill, ages 5-7 will discover “A Bug’s Life”, and 8- 12 year olds will study the way water shapes the land at Fair Hill and learn the importance of soil conservation. Reservations required. $5.00/ student.

Bats in your Belfry?

Friday, October 28 - 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join bat expert Marcia Fox in discovering the world of bats. A bonfire and marshmallow roast follow the bat hike. Appropriate for ages 5 and up. Reservations required. Members $2.00/nonmembers $5.00.

S.W.A.T. Road Cleanup

Saturday, November 5, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Meet at Wesley’s Restaurant parking lot on Rt. 273. We have “adopted” a stretch of the highway and pick up trash about a mile east and west of Wesley’s. We’re only out there a couple of hours but what a difference it makes. And you’ll meet the nicest people!. All materials provided by the Nature Center. Must be 12 years or older.

Holiday Wreath Workshop

Saturday, November 19, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Enjoy a cup of coffee, holiday goodies, and some friendly conversation while creating a holiday wreath using purchased and natural ingredients. Reservations required. Members $12.00/nonmembers $15.00.

Santa at the Nature Center!

Saturday, December 10, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Visit Fair Hill Nature Center to create a holiday craft, enjoy some hot chocolate, and  visit with Santa. Hayride, weather permitting for an additional charge. Reservations required. Members free/nonmembers $3.00.
