Trail Day

Saturday, September 13, 1:00 p.m.
 
This event is for people who want that wonderful feeling of looking at their efforts and knowing their helping hands made something better! Trails Day is for repairing and improving the trails used for Nature Center programs and activities. Projects this year include replacing damaged fence parts, fixing foot bridges, mulching, and trimming trails. And we’ll feed you with lunch! Pass the news of this event along to youth groups who need public service hours and are interested in community volunteering.

Fox Chasing At Fair Hill

Wednesday, September 17, 7:00 p.m.
 
Learn about the fox chasing tradition on the Fair Hill property. Presented by Nature Center instructor and fox chaser Erlene Michener.

Fox Trot Ball

Saturday, October 11, 6:00 p.m.
The Fox Trot Ball returns to the Ed Walls Center at Fair Hill. Circle the date and plan to come out to Fair grounds that evening. Music by “The Heaters” and catered by “Your Personal Chef,” this year’s Ball will be a great time! This is a major fund raiser for the Nature Center and your contribution of $50 per person to attend the Fox Trot Ball will support the outstanding environmental programs for children and adults in Cecil County. Reserve a table for 10 at $450 and save!

Fall Leaf Walk

Saturday, October 18, 1:00 p.m.

Hike our nature trails to identify native trees in their fall glory. Finish up with leaf printing, either on a T-shirt or sweatshirt you bring or on our art paper.

Hayride

Enjoy a hayride through the fields and forests of Fair Hill.

S.W.A.T. Road Cleanup

Saturday, October 25, 8 to 10 a.m.

We need you and you’ll get mucho fresh air and exercise! Put the 18th on your calendar to meet at Wesley’s Restaurant parking lot on Rt. 273. We have “adopted” a stretch of the highway and pick up trash about a mile east and west of Wesley’s. We’re only out there a couple of hours but what a difference it makes. And you’ll meet the nicest people!. All materials provided by the Nature Center. Must be 12 years or older.

Holiday Wreath Workshop

Saturday, November 15, 10:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m

The holidays are just around the corner and the Fair Hill Nature Center will help get you prepared. This workshop is for adults. Decorate your home or give a great gift with a wreath made at the Nature Center. Make a holiday wreath using natural and other materials. Refreshments provided.


AND NEW THIS YEAR…. at 1:00 pm “Make A Wreath” for kids. We recommend age 8 and up.

Adult members, $10.00, non members $13.00.
Children members, $7.00, non members $10.00.

Preregistration and advance payment required.


Santa Hayride

Saturday, December 6, 1:00 p.m.
(raindate Sunday, December 7, 1:00 pm)

We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the holidays than an old fashioned hayride in the beautiful Fair Hill countryside. Meet at Fair Hill Nature Center to make a Christmas craft or bird feeder and visit with Santa. Hayrides will leave the Nature Center at 1:30, 2:00 & 2:30. Pony and/or carriage rides will be available at an extra cost.

Members $3.00. Nonmembers $4.00. Children under 4 are free.

Animal Tracks

Saturday, February 7, 10:00- 11:30 a.m.
Learn how to identify the local critters by the tracks they leave behind. We may have snow or just mud but you’ll have a great time searching for the telltale signs of our animal neighbors. Meet at the Nature Center to begin this adventure.

Members free. Nonmembers $3.00/ discount price of $5.00 for both this and CSI Mammals.
Recommednded for ages 8 and up.

CSI Mammals

Saturday, February 7, 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. (Rescheduled)

Discover “who ate it” by examining mammal skulls; presented by Leslie Kordella of Wildlife Habitat Council. Age 8 and up.

Members free. Nonmembers $3.00/ discount price of $5.00 for both events.
